A BUSY, but Fabulous Weekend

Whew, what a weekend! Our Saturday consisted of a 5K race, followed by a birthday party (which I made the cake for), and ending with company over for dinner.

I am extremely proud of my 5K results.  My time was 26:23, which was 59th overall, and 4th in my age division for women. I just missed a trophy! And the funny thing is, is that I beat all the girls who placed in the 20-25 age division! If only I were a few years younger, I would have got first place! Greg ran with me the whole way until a couple hundred yards from the finish. He ended up with a time of 26:02, which was 55th overall, and 16th in his age division for men. Greg's buddy that also ran with us finished 13th overall. He kicked our booty with at time of 21 minutes.

Being my first 5K, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I was a little surprised at how hard core some of these people were! Men running without shirts, or succumbing to the weight of their shirt halfway through the race, ripping it off, and just throwing it on the ground, as Greg and I witnessed and had to laugh at, and people fighting to be at the front of the starting line.  I had to smile as I passed those people who were at the front, and later walking!

The starting line: I'm behind the extremely tall, skinny girl, Greg is on the right edge. Do you think if I keep running, I'll look like that girl? Probably not, since I don't see myself growing a foot anytime soon.

Greg approaching the finish line!

Here I am rounding the corner before the finish. I broke into a sprint right after this and beat the girl in front of me, who happened to be the girl who got first place in the 20-25 age group!

The runners after the race!

Here are the cakes I made for Kason's 1st birthday:

I'm especially proud of the party hat I made for the rubber ducky out of fondant!

Needless to say, I ended the busy day with a few glasses of wine with our dinner company. I've already got my sights set on another 5K, with a determination to be in the top 3 of my age group! I better get to work!
